Windows 7 is an operating system released by Microsoft in October 2009. It is designed for use for use on desktops, laptops, netbooks, tablets and media centre PCs and is currently the most widely-used PC operating system. It has now been superseded by Windows 8, but is likely to remain the major system in use for some time.
Windows 7 has few major differences from its predecessor, Windows Vista, as it was designed to support the same hardware and application. New features included multi-touch support, a new taskbar and a new home networking system (HomeGroup).
