NAND and NOR

Other common gates include NAND and NOR gates. These work in the same way as AND and OR gates but the output is inverted. In other words the outputs are NOT AND and NOT OR.

Logic gates are frequently used in parallel to affect a complete byte of data. For example when processing interrupts a series of AND gates may be used to find which input line has been turned on and in turn which piece of equipment needs attention.
